QUEER BIENNIAL III
NAVEL LA
LOS ANGELES 2018

Created and performed by Spenser Theberge
Text written and performed by Jermaine Spivey
Music by Mozart
FLOWN was commissioned for the Queer Biennial III and premiered at NAVEL LA in June of 2018. The piece began with the visual of a shirt lifted by balloons as a representation of a person who isn't there. From there, the piece became an interaction with the shirt--- this performer trying to animate it, trying to dance with it. It's an attempt at dealing with longing and loneliness, of wishing you were doing a duet instead of a solo.

The piece takes place inside a small green screen room. Only 40 is maximum capacity, so the piece runs on a loop to accommodate more audience. All technical elements are handled by the performer during the piece.
