BALLET & IMPROVISATION

HEY Y'ALL!

This day of dance at STOMPING GROUND LA will begin with a ballet class (featuring live music by Sharon Lam).  We'll focus on organization, function, and moving the body through space while connecting to musicality and agency.  Our on-going work in this class is about shifting away from the limiting aesthetic of ballet and instead using the technique as a tool to explore our own dance values.  All bodies, all people, all relationships to ballet welcome here!

We'll follow ballet with an improvisation workshop.  This workshop is designed to get us organized, moving, and curious. Especially that last part - curious.  When we train our sense of interest along with our technique, our work becomes boundless and free.  Truly.  But that's just it - interest in our own work must be practiced.  We gotta do it!  So join me for these days and we'll work on strategies to…
