many / MUCH MORE
GOTHENBURG OPERA DANCE COMPANY
NORTHERN (DE)LIGHTS 2016
GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN

Co-created, text authored & performed by Arika Yamada & Spenser Theberge
'Many Much More' was commissioned by the GoteborgsOperans Danskompani for their Northern (de)Lights program in February 2016, and created in collaboration with Arika Yamada. The piece features 15 pieces of 3'x7' wood and a hanging microphone. All sound is created by the dancers and a live sound mixer.

The piece is an exploration of storytelling. The classic three act narrative structure is dissected and abstracted in real time, the performers moving through beginning, middle, and end as they try to understand the story they're in. Everything built upon, both physically and textually, is temporary. The performers confront this precariousness head on, and are left with the only thing they can do--- try.
